To be eligible to fly under the standard scenarios (STS-01 and STS-02), it is required that you, as a remote pilot, obtain a theoretical certificate from a recognized standard scenario school and successfully complete the required practical training.

Theoretical training for STS

In Denmark, theoretical training and examinations for standard scenarios (STS) are offered by recognized entities.

The theoretical training and examination serve as an extension of the drone certificate. Therefore, you must hold at least an A1/A3 drone certificate before you can obtain an STS endorsement on your drone certificate. The training aims to assess the remote pilot’s knowledge of technical and operational risk mitigation measures.

The training ensures that you can complete a multiple-choice exam with 40 questions if you hold an A1/A3 drone certificate and 30 questions if you hold an A2 drone certificate. This exam assesses your understanding of operational and technical risk mitigation measures.

Practical skill training and evaluation for remote pilots in STS

Practical training can be provided in two ways: either by a recognized entity or by a drone operator. It is important to note that the practical training requirements for STS-01 and STS-02 differ, as STS-02 includes additional practical training related to BVLOS operations and having an airspace observer during the operations.

The practical training should cover flight preparation, operations under normal and abnormal conditions, and post-flight procedures.

The training should focus on developing skills in risk assessment, emergency procedures, and the safe operation of drones.

Recognized STS entities

The following entities are recognized by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority (Trafikstyrelsen) for STS training.
